Early in October, Hugo Calderon was a happy, healthy, independent 27-year-old, with a passion for hunting and high adventures. That security was shattered last month when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He was fast-tracked into surgery and now, Chemo. In high school, Hugo was my nemesis; now we are fighting on the same side. Having established a self-sufficient life, Hugo now finds himself in the unenviable position of having to take months off work so he can undergo the necessary treatment–as bills continue mounting for his care. I am endlessly proud of the humble, hardworking man he has become. My name is Erin Krause; I was Hugo's high school teacher. We are setting up this fund so that Hugo can focus on his health and to get him back to the healthy, independent 27-year-old he was just two short months ago.
