CTX Music Academy exists largely to serve the Christian homeschool community in the north Austin area.
The Mission...
... is to encourage the community to grow in excellence in order to bring glory to God through music.
The Hope...
is to offer private lessons in all wind, brass, percussion, strings, piano, and voice, The Piano Express (a progressive tech-infused group setting that has proven to grow students up to 3x faster than traditional one-on-one lessons), Elementary Music fueled by Prodigies (another progressive tech-infused curriculum that engages the students and frees the teacher up to make corrections to each individual student in real time), Concert Band, Choir, Orchestra, Musicals and Children's Operas, Recitals, Masterclasses, attend competitions (both group and individual), and provide scholarships.
Hello, my name is Kate Pamplin, and I own and operate CTX Music Academy. I have been working like a dog since January 2025 to build CTXMA, and I have had many victories and disappointments. And this most recent disappointment, a contract that has fallen through on a location in downtown Round Rock, got me to wondering how I can possibly stabilize and truly grow CTX Music Academy. That is where GoFundMe comes into play, but let me first give you some background about CTX Music Academy and who I am.
A little bit of background about me: Music has always been a part of my life. My father was a band director, and my first band "concert" was a football game at 3 weeks old. I received awards in school from the age of 7 for my musicianship, and I went on to become a 2006 4A All-State bassoonist in high school. I graduated high school early and left home to pursue a music degree. I received a bachelor’s in music education from Abilene Christian University in 2012 (cum laude) and have since enjoyed performing and teaching throughout Greater Rochester, NY and Greater Austin, TX.
In College, I was the principal bassoonist for the ACU Wind Ensemble as well as Orchestra and sang many solos in the University Chorale, A Cappella Chorus, Opera Workshop, and a chorus member of the Abilene Opera Association. In 2011, I covered the lead role of Magda Sorel in Gian Carlo Menotti’s "The Consul," and in 2012 I became Micaela in George Bizet’s "Carmen". I was a NATS semi-finalist and recipient of the Jaques Nell Holland Instrumental Endowment, George & Melisse Ewing Vocal Endowment, Hall Vocal Endowment, and served on a working scholarship as the Opera Workshop production manager.
After college, my husband and I moved to Upstate NY for his graduate work 2012-2014. I started my own private music studio and found myself fortunate enough to work privately with Dr. Robert McIver, Eastman Professor of Vocal Pedagogy. I was an active participant in the Eastman-Rochester Chorus and Rochester Oratorio Society, a soloist for Resonanz, a recitalist for Rochester Lyric Opera and the Narrator and Gardener in RLO’s opera production of "Beauty and the Beast." I worked for RLO as a stage manager and substitute vocal coach for their production of "Mice and Beans," a children’s opera. Susan ("Sue") Delly Cotroneo, who owned and operated RLO, even included me in round table discussions about the growth and management of the opera company during that time. In Rochester, I also enjoyed interning at the Hochstein School of Music and Dance as an assistant choir director and working as the choir director for Greece, NY’s 2013 Summer Fine Arts camp.
When we moved back to Texas in 2014, I had accepted a band director position at a small town in West Texas, but God had other plans. My husband landed a job at a company in his field... In Austin. So, we moved! Eventually, I turned down a beginner strings position as well in favor of ultimately continuing my private studio and taking seasonal positions as a marching technician.
In 2015, I became a homeschool mom. When I am not busy managing and teaching CTX Music Academy students, my children and I are out and about in Round Rock, Hutto, and Pflugerville attending Classical Conversations community days and playdates. When we are not in town, we are busy homesteading on some acreage in the “middle of nowhere,” as we put it: building a house with our own hands, raising chickens, and taking in stray dogs upon occasion. When I am not tending to my children (or chickens), or taping and mudding a wall at their homestead, my family and I enjoy being that random “Disney Musical” household that breaks out into song throughout the day, art, reading, hiking, board games, baking, storytelling, public speaking, and making friends! My favorite type of music is opera, and my all-time favorite singer is Kathleen Battle. In addition to founding CTX Music Academy in 2025, I also started Wilco Christian Homeschool Support. As of June 2026, I am also the lead administrator for Pflugerville Homeschool Families.
Now, back to why I am making this GoFundMe page...
After a decade of childrearing and homeschooling my 3 daughters, on New Year's Eve 2024, I decided it was finally time to get my music business back off the ground. Since then, I have had to drive around and lug all of my equipment to multiple locations to offer private lessons, group piano, elementary music, band, and choir... and that all had to come to a screeching halt in February of this year (2026). My parents, who had lived with us, moved out which meant I no longer had a way to leave my children at home during my working hours. Homeschooling is not something my family is willing to give up, so for the last several months, I have only been able to teach a handful of students at their homes when my husband is off work. And since we no longer have my parents to split the bills with, our family is at great risk of losing everything we have worked so hard for in the last 5 years.
It is crucial that I help us make ends meet now in a real tangible way.
Over the last two weeks, I have been negotiating with a commercial real estate owner about a lease agreement. I was so excited about the property located in downtown Round Rock and the opportunity to really get some traction with this business. At the last minute, the owner backed out of allowing a contingency. Now, they are more interested in selling than renting the property, and my real estate agent has not heard from theirs since this revelation.
I can't blame them. I get it. And I wish them well. It's been a good experience regardless, and it forced me to ask business questions that I could not bring myself to figure out.
It would be incredible if I had the funds to at least rent, or purchase, a location where CTX Music Academy could really spread its wings.
It would be incredible if CTX Music Academy could secure a location in downtown Round Rock, because it is within 15 minutes of Hutto, Pflugerville, North Austin, Cedar Park, and Georgetown; 15-20 minutes from Leander and Manor; and 30 minutes from Liberty Hill, Elgin, and Taylor. But I am keeping my eyes on the area in general! Who knows what God has in store!
Purchasing a property is far out of my own reach right now, but I know with faith, I can move mountains.
And sometimes mountain moving includes working with others!
Maybe, all I need is help moving a small mountain with the community! If I were to raise $30,000, which was my original goal to cover a security deposit, one month's rent, and additional equipment and furniture for the business, I could easily sign a contract without a contingency (and the owners may go for that).
But If I could raise $700,000 (their current asking price), wow! CTX Music Academy could own a property in Round Rock and the entire community could be blessed with a dedicated music academy in the area.
What do you say? Will you join forces with me today and give CTX Music Academy a real home?
I am NOT asking for a handout!
You do not have to donate without expectation of receiving something back! You can donate freely here on GoFundMe, or you can pre-register for one OR several of the classes I want to offer in this relaunch straight through the CTX Music Academy website.
If you pre-register, and I cannot find a space or enough interest in that class in 6 months, you have the option to get your money back!
If CTX Music Academy can find a place to move into by July 1, I can offer camps starting July 6! These camps would include:
- Mothers Day Out on Mondays and Wednesdays 9-2 PM, snacks included
- Choir Camp
- Beginner Band Camp
- Piano Boot Camp
