Support Sophie's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Sophie has been playing ultimate frisbee for years and has been a treasured member of Ruckus, UVM’s women’s team, for the past four. In the very last point of the regional final, Ruckus’s last stop before Nationals in May, Sophie suffered a knee injury as a result of a dangerous play made by an opponent. The collision tore her ACL and MCL, fractured a bone, and damaged her TCL, dMCL, POL, and LCL.
This type of injury is heartbreaking and scary for any athlete, and the challenges have only been compounded by the fact that this was Sophie’s senior season, and she will be unable to compete with Ruckus as they vie for the National Championship, and will also miss playing for her club team this summer and fall.
Sophie just had her first surgery and will have her second surgery in a few weeks. She is also facing a year of post-op rehab before she will be able to run, jump, and play frisbee again. On behalf of Sophie, her family, and the Vermont Ultimate community, we are seeking financial support to ease the stress of medical bills and allow Sophie to focus on recovery and rehabilitation over the next few months.
