This Community Book Box Interactive Public Art has been designed to enlighten, inspire, and expose community members to the unlimited opportunities that can create unlimited possibilities in their future.
The Community Book Box will be designed by Charles Washington, an environmental artist, that has installed three public art pieces in Third Ward. This book box will be his first interactive literary and STEM designed public art piece.
The inspiration behind the design of the art work are parts from robots built by Jack Yates High School students as participants in FIRST robotics in 2000 and 2001 as well as Sea Turtle Sculptures designed by former C-STEM students.
The expanded opportunities this public art piece will provide the community include taking a book and/or leaving a book whenever their hearts desire, art and engineering workshops, a reading outdoor sanctuary, and an added beautiful spot in the neighborhood.
All amounts donated will help us reach our goal. A list of the donors names will be displayed on the inside of the Community Book Box. We thank you in advance for your support in helping us achieve our goal of $5,000 in 30 days.
