On July 21st, our friend Allan Young was suddenly and tragically taken from us. If you were lucky enough to have known him, you know what an extraordinary loss this has been. Allan dedicated his life to serving, protecting and helping others. He was in the Royal Navy for four years and then moved to Canada where he joined the Toronto Police Service. The next move was here to Abbotsford where he planned to finish his career as a constable with the APD. He was very well known in the community and was a very respected officer.
Allan was born in Dumbarton, Scotland. Although, he lived in Canada for many years, at times it was still hard to understand him but that was just one of the reasons everyone loved him so much. He was truly hilarious.
He met the love of his life Kim, nearly 8 years ago. It was just 10 months ago we were celebrating them at their wedding. They were each other's world. It was that once in a life time love, the type of love that only so few are fortunate to find. Whether you knew them for years or only just met them, it was obvious to everyone how truly happy they made each other.
As you can imagine, Kim is absolutely devastated and shattered by the fact that Allan's life was ripped away in the blink of an eye. Policing was in his blood and he spent his last moments protecting another.
We are hoping to help ease the financial burden and if you are able to contribute to this fundraiser in any way, it would be greatly appreciated. Money raised will go towards helping cover funeral costs and any other expenses that follow. If money is raised beyond our goal, it will go towards sending Kim to spend time with Allan's family and friends in the country he loved so much, Scotland.
Thank you all so much. Much love to everyone as we grieve this tremendous loss together.

But I just want my mind to stay the same
To hear your voice
To see your face
There's not one moment I'd erase.'
