Help Support Mary Heal from Heart Attack

Dear friends, family and other caring humans,

I urgently reach out to you on behalf of my sister, MARY OLEWALE, who recently suffered a heart attack on Saturday 19 January 2024 morning. She was rushed by ambulance to the hospital after experiencing sudden shortness of breath and chest pain. Her heart attack may have been linked to a prior surgical procedure in Papua New Guinea, where a power outage damaged sensitive medical equipment affecting her treatment.

Mary is 56 years old and married with 3 children and 3 grandchildren and supports and cares for many disadvantaged youth back in PNG.

The medical staff of Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane has been a great help in helping her with her Angiogram and Angioplasty procedure, which was successfully done.

Thank you to those who have donated on GoFundMe and also those who gave cash, we were able to put down an initial payment of $3,000 towards Mary's medical bills.

More blood tests were done and the results indicate her kidney is at 40% functionality, but they will treat that after the Angiogram & Angioplasty procedures.

She was then discharged the following day after the Angiogram and Angioplasty procedure from the hospital to bed rest at home because the medical staff understand her financial situation and wanted her to receive the best care and discharge as soon as possible. The medical staff told her to bed rest and stay on a Mediterranean diet for two weeks and then go back in for a review and they will also check and help improve her kidney functionality.

Mary's unexpected health crisis has left our family facing overwhelming medical expenses, which based on her medical status was approximately AUS$133,000. But due to her being discharged early, the medical bills have been cut down to around AU$60,000. Nevertheless, despite the challenges, we're very grateful for the quality care she received and will receive.
