On Thursday, 09/17, Lisa went in for a routine EGD and colonoscopy. During the process, the wire used to perform the procedure became knotted and perforated her esophagus as they pulled it out. She was immediately transported to St Luke’s and had surgery to place a stent to help the perforation heal. After surgery, she was placed in the ICU for several days.
Less than a week later, on Tuesday, 09/22, she was taken in for emergency surgery—the stent slipped and needed to be repositioned. To add to that, she required a chest tube on Wednesday to clear fluid out of her lung. It’s a situation that seems to get more complicated with each passing day.
Perhaps the worst part in all of this is that, due to COVID, she has been unable to visit with her daughter, Christina. Lisa is a single mom and the sole provider for herself and Christina. She has been out of work for a week and unsure when she will be able to return after this series of events. She’s not one to ask for help—in fact, she’s probably going to yell at us for putting this together—but she needs us to pull together for her. This accident is a huge burden at an already bad time. Not only are there certain to be medical bills, they’ll be on top of healthcare costs that have already accumulated over the past two years, since Lisa was diagnosed with Parkinson’s.
Lisa is a loving, gracious, courageous woman. She is also stubborn, independent and resilient; her strength is destined for the record books. With the love of her family and friends, she and Christina will get through this rough patch.
Please donate to help Lisa. All proceeds from this GoFundMe will go directly to her. If you’d rather donate directly, please reach out to myself (Shannon), her sisters (Wendy and Brenda) or her aunt (Peg). We can work with you if you want to send cash, check, PayPal or Venmo.
Every little bit helps and Lisa is deserving of every ounce of support we can give her.
