Six's medical expenses

At the jackpot Thursday Rachel was letting Six breeze home from the third. When he got close to the fence Rachel pulled him up to get him stopped and kicked his rear end out bumping the fence and got his right hind hoof stuck in the fence. He got his foot unstuck before Rachel could even get off, but it was obvious he severed his artery. We wrapped it as tightly as we could to control the bleeding and hauled him to Purdue. The vet got the artery tied off, but tested his joint and the laceration affects the coffin joint. So Six immediately went into surgery to flush out his joint and get a high concentration of antibiotics directly injected into that joint. The vet is hopeful he will have a fair to good chance of recovery if infection can stay at bay, but where it's located on his foot the infection risk is high. Six will be staying at Purdue for a few days post surgery to make sure he does well with a hard cast they are putting on him. If everything goes perfect and no infection sets in she is looking at a minimum of $3500. This doesn't include after care bet visits or if infection occurs by just where the laceration is located on the foot. $3500 minimum is a lot to come up with let alone after care vet visits and medication he will be prescribed. She could be looking at over $5000! She doesn't have a choice but to sell her other barrel horse and we DO NOT want that to happen!
