C.S.I. Campbell Hospital was started in the year 1896 by Dr. Vincent Campbell A missionary from London Mission. The Hospital is located in Jammalamadugu a small town in YSR Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh. This legendary Hospital is been catering to the rural population from the surrounding villages of Jammalamadugu for all the health needs. In the year 2020, we have treated 70 thousand patients. Though there are few Private hospitals, Campbell Hospital is known for its reliable and affordable treatment.

The Hospital is run by 100% indigenous funds. We are thriving to upkeep the facilities at the Hospital by procuring all the necessary equipment.

Today the hospital stands as one of the best hospitals in the region with all the latest equipment, Technology, and various Specialties, competing with any other Corporate Hospital. The ICU has Ventilators, Vitals-monitors, Defibrillator, Syringe Pumps, Critical Care Beds, etc.

The Operation Theatre is equipped with ETO Sterilizer & Draeger anesthesia Workstation, Laparoscopic surgery Machine, along with the other common Operation Theatre Equipment.

The Laboratory operates with Fully Auto Bio-Chemistry Analyzer, Chem7, Ecl105, Easylyte analyzer.

Ophthalmology Department is using A-Scan, Slit Lamp, Auto-refractor machine, YAG Laser and Pacho Machine and Microscope, etc.

X-Ray Unit has 300 MA X- EPSILON EP 300 FC with Multi-position Table and Fujifilm CR System.

Features like Centralized Oxygen System, M-Turbo Color Doppler System (ECO) and Pentax – Versa Gastro endoscope Machine and round the clock services by 13 Specialist and Professional Doctors and a team of 30 Clinical, 8 Para-Medical, 40 Support Services staff thriving to place the Hospital on No.1 Ranking in the mission hospitals.

Many of the above equipment is bought on a credit basis. The 130-year-old buildings are in dilapidated condition and need immediate renovation. But still, we are determined to strive for the service of the poor and needy.

Since April, India has been witnessing a surge in Covid-19 infections with the country seeing over 3 lakh fresh cases of Covid-19 daily. Foreseeing the need that is going to emerge in the Jammalamadugu town we have applied to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for permission to treat the COVID affected in our Hospital. We got permission on 20th April 2021 for 20 Bed out of which are 4 ICU beds with 2 ventilators, 6 Oxygen Beds, and 10 Non-Oxygen Beds. We immediately started the Covid Unit with the infrastructure that we had. i.e. two Ventilators, ICU with Central Oxygen Supply with 17 Oxygen Cylinders for storage, Vital Monitors etc. We had to put up a Help Desk where the Nodal Officer and Arogyasree ( a government Free treatment Scheme) personnel will be placed. The Help desk was provided with Computer, Printer & Scanner Air Cooler, Notice Board etc.

The Other important arrangement we had to make was setting up a Triage. All the patients who come to the hospital will be visiting the Triage for screening. Here we found the need of having an emergency room where the patients whose saturation levels are low will be put on Oxygen immediately while the other formalities of admission are done. We had to convert two rooms, one into an Emergency Room and the other into the Waiting Room for the Attendants. The Emergency room has a Bed with a mobile Oxygen Cylinder.

Setting up of COVID Center has demanded to have various arrangements like CCTV Surveillance around the hospital, laying of Concrete Road within the hospital, setting up of Covid Counseling Room etc.

The safety of our Team was a great concern to us. We had to procure PPE kits and Masks, sanitizer, disposable gloves etc. in bulk.

We were falling short of the Human resources as well, immediately we have deputed B.Sc. Nursing 4th Year Students (as per the Government Order).

All the above has resulted in a huge expenditure. The Government has prescribed set prices to be charged to the patients, which includes Medicines, Pathology and food. The rates are too low that we can accommodate even the medicine part within it. We cannot step down from extending the treatment to these poor patients though we are ending up in losses because the Motto of our Hospital is “Ourselves your servants for Jesus Sake”.

Day by day the numbers of cases are increasing. And funds are becoming a great concern for us. We assume that we would not be able to continue for long with the available funds. We are looking for donors who can extend their helping hand so that we can continue to serve these poor and needy.
