I would just like to start and say thank you for even clicking on to read, my Dad isn’t aware I am setting this up but I just want to help him in any way I can.

Last night (18/06/25), a massive fire broke out at Storage World in Middleton — and it’s still ongoing as I write this. My dad is one of many people who had a unit there, but unlike most, his unit wasn’t just for storage — it was the heart of his small business and his livelihood.

Tragically, the fire is believed to have started in the unit directly next to his. In the efforts to contain it, the fire service had to break into my dad’s unit to access the fire. Everything inside is likely to have been lost — all of his business equipment, tools, stock, his laptop, and even personal belongings from their recent house move.

This has been completely devastating for him and our family. This business was his sole source of income, and with the cost of living already so high, the thought of starting again from scratch feels impossible. Insurance is unlikely to cover the full extent of what was lost, and it could be months before we even know if recovery is possible at all.
