Dana's Stem Cell Transplant Exp
Donation protected
In February 2015, after undergoing treatment for what my Doctor believed to be simply flea bites because of a skin rash, I went in for a follow up visit. The Doctor decided to order a CBC, (Complete Blood Counts). He was alarmed when he noticed my white blood cell count was over 21,000. He ordered a chest and abdomen x-ray. Minutes later he came back into the room and stated that I had a large mass on my right lung. I immediately thought...Lung Cancer. Despite the fact that I did not smoke. I followed up with my Mother's oncologist. She had me admitted to the hospital immediately for test. The diagnosis was Stage 4 Lymphoma. At first I grew very depressed and was diagnosed with clinical depression. I started back therapy to help me with coping. The original treatment plan was 12 rounds of chemotherapy. I was blessed the chemotherapy was gentle on me. Upon my 11th round,my Doctor was concerned because my masses had not responded well to my chemotherapy as she anticipated. Come now in August 2015, my treatment plan has taken a detour. I will have to undergo a Stem Cell Transplant. It's been very hard because I saw the finish line and now I am having to take a detour. Bottom line, I want to beat this Cancer. I will beat it !!! My support system has been awesome. People rarely discuss the things Cancer does in a positive way...Brings you closer to God, Family and Friends. It changes your outlook on life. Makes you more appreciative for everything and everyday. My pride has gotten in the way with being able to accept help. Even though I've always been a giver myself. So, now I must humble myself and take my family and friends up on their offers to see me through this next journey. All love gifts will be greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless You ! These donations will go towards other expenses associated with the Transplant procedure. Insurance will cover the procedure.*** I AM BLESSED...
