Hi, my name is Ja’kirah, and I’m writing this for my Mom, Crystal Rivers

Our family is heartbroken because my Mom has been re-diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The first time she fought this battle, we were so hopeful it would never come back. She worked hard to heal and be strong for me, my siblings and my family. But now, we have to face this fight again, and it’s really hard to see her go through it.

When the doctors said, “your cancer is back,” it changed everything. Cancer doesn’t just hurt the body, it takes a toll on our hearts, our emotions, and even our finances. My Mom’s treatment will include surgery, Hypofractionated Radiation therapy, targeted therapy, and medicines that she will need for a long time. Even though she has insurance, the costs of co-pays, hospital bills, prescriptions, transportation to her appointments, and everyday living expenses are more than we can handle alone.

My Mom is one of the strongest people I know. She keeps reminding me and my brothers that she is determined to fight; not just for herself, but for me, my siblings, our family, her friends, and for the future she still dreams of. But she needs help to do that.
