Crystal's Fight Against Stage 4 Cervical Cancer

Dear friends and compassionate individuals,

We are reaching out to you today on behalf of our dear friend Crystal, a loving mother of five beautiful children who is currently battling stage 4 cervical cancer. As her closest friends, we are launching this GoFundMe campaign to rally support and raise funds to help ease the financial burdens associated with her treatment and care.

In the fall of 2022, Crystal noticed irregular bleeding that was only getting worse. She got into her doctor and the local gynaecologist, who both quickly informed her it was likely cervical cancer. At this point, she was hopeful that it was still early. The resulting biopsy and scans unfortunately confirmed that the cancer had spread into her lymph nodes and was therefore considered incurable Stage 4b.

She started radiation and chemotherapy treatment on May 29th and will be receiving treatment in Saskatoon away from her five children for the next five weeks. It will be intensive, but we know Crystal is a fighter. She is also booked in to see an Integrative MD and a Cancer Care Naturopath and is doing everything in her power to heal and be with her family again.

Receiving the news of a stage 4 cancer diagnosis has been devastating for Crystal and her family. The emotional toll is immense, and as medical bills, treatment costs, and day-to-day expenses continue to mount, we are determined to provide her with the financial support she needs, so she can focus on her recovery without worrying about the financial burdens.

Our goal for this campaign is to raise $25,000, which will directly contribute to covering the costs related to her chemotherapy and radiation sessions in Saskatoon, and any other necessary expenses that arise throughout her battle with this aggressive disease. As Crystal will be off work for at least 6 months, the funds will also ensure that Crystal can afford vital post-treatment care and rehabilitation to regain her strength and quality of life.

Prior to her diagnosis, she was just starting her mental health career and had landed a great position with the SK Ministry of Social Services where she got to assist others in need. Crystal has managed to complete her human services diploma online over the last 3.5 years while raising five great kids. In the fall she is planning to continue her schooling with a goal to eventually counsel other mothers and children. We know that rather than booking self-care stuff like massages or buying slippers, she will be worrying about how she can find a way to get her kids into another activity to keep them healthy. This fundraiser will help put her at ease, knowing everything is taken care of financially.

Stage 4b cervical cancer is an overwhelming diagnosis but Crystal and Malcolm are committed to finding all available conventional and alternative treatment options to help her fight this disease. Unfortunately, not all medications (i.e., anti-nausea meds) or treatment options (nutritionists, naturopaths, supplements, vitamin therapy, etc.) are covered under our medical system. Crystal has had to stop working and Malcolm is trying to balance his new tech career while supporting Crystal, attending a steady stream of medical appointments and corresponding with health providers.
