Crystal's Healing Journey

Donation protected

Dear friends & family,

I am starting a GoFundMe account today to benefit our
son Ian & his family.    His wife Crystal is in the hospital
and their need will be great.  They and their family live
in Buckingham Co. near us.
Here is what has transpired to  bring us to this place:

Crystal gave birth 2 weeks ago (which was 2 wks Early)
to a little boy...he came so quickly (also w/in 2 hrs.) that
the midwives didn't even  make it in time ….baby is tiny
but  doing well...his name is Wyatt.

Crystal however, while checking out very well after the
birth...went down hill quickly later the same day w/
some excruciating back pain...towards hip area, an area
prone to problems for her before.
She got in bed & later couldn't move for the pain...midwife
& chiropractor were conferring back & forth with hospital
staff, & determined it to be a torn muscle....
and only way to heal that...is to lie still & let it heal... &
she did, & even the slightest movement put her in spasms
of pain.  They iced & treated her w/ meds & w/in a few
days Ian was able to get her up to sit in a chair for awhile,
& get a shower...but the pain was Un-wavering.

After a week, Crystal  spiked a Fever,  & then was transported
by ambulance to ER.
Being moved in any way was excruciating for her...she was
transferred in the night by ambulance again to Lynchburg
General for an MRI, where she was admitted to the ICU.

She stayed in ICU for 4 nights, then moved to a room,
and has been there now for 8 nights.  These are the
medical issues they discovered:

Pneumonia        -    On IV Antibiotics

Torn  muscle in sacrial area w/ a  large Hemotoma that is
pressing on her nerves there causing the terrible pain.
Nothing can be done about that...it has to be re-absorbed
by the body, which sadly is a slow process.   On IV PAIN Meds...
(had to come off those yesterday  as they're too dangerous to
stay on...Fed. law,  they cause kidney damage),  so NOW
needing to find the right drugs that will help w/ the ongoing
   severe pain

* Strep B infection that was rampant in her body...On IV Antib.
Last Friday,  an MRI showed pockets of infection settled in some
joints...    one shoulder & opposite wrist.  They had to operate &
surgically remove those infections, as they are not readily
reached by antibiotics.  She is healing but sore,  Recovering
from two surgical sites of course put new limits on her
mobility...hard to use a walker w/ a bad back when one wrist
& your opposite shoulder have been damaged.   They are watching
her heart for any signs of Strep damage...so far none.

Miraculously,,,the baby was not affected by the Strep...it's
usually the other way around...what has happened to her
   is nearly unheard of...

Crystal is making progress.  We are SO thankful!

They had hopes of her coming home today (not)  or tomorrow.

She is improving, but here are some specific prayer needs:

1. Slight intermittent fever & still slightly raised white count.
Strong antibiotics she is receiving should knock out the culprit, so
prayers for those to normalize by tomorrow is the goal

2. A new pain med was just introduced...pray that this gives
clear relief & that Crystal can be confident that it is enough relief
to go home on...

3.  Details of getting  home IV therapy arranged must fall
into place for her to leave, those meds must stay in her system
consistently at adequate levels to protect her joints, heart , lungs.

The last 24 hrs. have been beyond frustrating for Ian in trying
to get the different agencies to  cooperate together so this
can happen,  Drug Company & Liason &,  Home Health company
need to work in tandem...they haven't been... even though they
have Samaritan's.... the Drug Provider made Ian pay 50%  TODAY
($1600) of her upcoming drug need (IV antibiotic) at the rate of
ONE DOSE per day $85. day in Advance, or they wouldn't send it.

The hospital & docs will work with them on the bills, but this
company refused to...$85 A DAY for a dose of Antibiotic...seem
high to you?   If you have input for us, please send it my way.

4.  That the door would open for AT-HOME Physical Therapy!
PT is working with her at the hospital...but very limited as she
SO tires out, & has to work through the pain.   She cannot get
herself in & out of bed, but can slowly walk with a walker to
the bathroom there.

5.  Crystal:  for overall Healing, so many things have been
affected, & elimination of PAIN, for renewal of her Strength,
for Encouragement for she  & Ian, in the sadness of being
separated at this time from her newborn & family who so
miss & need her...for the long haul of getting home/adjusted
& being on this healing journey!

6.  Ian, who is worn out, for comfort, for deep sleep
so that he will have a clear mind about all the decisions to
be made,  & in leading his family & all their needs.   For their
financial needs as he's missing a lot of work, for family bills,
& then the medical bills to follow, plus whatever it will take
to see her through to renewed health.

They have Samaritan's Christian Share, but it won't cover
all of it.  It will get them a hefty discount, pick up a lot of it,
but they'll have  a big portion to pay as well.  We know all
these big hospital bills will add up (transports by ambulance,
ER,  ICU,  multiple MRI'S, CT's & Ultrasounds,  Doctors,
Meds, Physical therapy,  etc.)  but according to some folks
in the 'know', it will be more than we would imagine....and
of course,  it is not over.

7.   Continued Donations of Breast Milk for Wyatt....as the
meds she will be on still preclude her from nursing.   We have
about 10 days worth thusfar.    Will probably need milk for
another 6 wks or more.    Please contact me to donate.

He's doing so well on it, & is gaining weight & is in the wonderful
care of his grandma Denise while mom's in the hospital.  He is the
spitting image of his daddy!

8.  For the children to stay calm & peaceful with their parents away...
they've been doing well so far.  Wonderful family friends (Rebekah
& Sarah!!), along w/ Grandma's are overseeing their care at their home,
and Aunts/Uncles have been visiting them as well!

Even though they're going through quite the ordeal...
God has been Faithful.  They rely fully on Him.
Crystal & her mother are recording all kinds of amazing
stories about His provisions through this long season,
which they will happily share in the future.

**If you'd like to send a meal, message me/or email for the link
to the site for their family.

                                              To GIVE
We've set the 1st Goal at $5000.  for immediate needs, when
the Medical bills start rolling in, we'll come back for Goal 2.
Small amounts from a lot of people...really add up!

If you'd like to AVOID the gofundme FEES,  Please mail checks
written to Ian Boyer, & mail to: 505 Mill Rd  Dillwyn, Va. 23936

as donations on the site (it's allowed) and please include a NOTE
