April 1st is known to many as April fools day. A day when you get to prank your friends and family members with outrageous claims. So naturally, when we heard the news, we didn't want to believe it. Unfortunately this was no joke. Crystal Lerette, at the age of 33 years has been diagnosed with breast cancer. More specifically, Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Stage 2, Grade 3, Triple Negative, Metastatic Breast Cancer. As scary as that sounds, this form of breast cancer is highly receptive to chemotherapy treatments. This will be a hard fight, but her Dr's say it is curable!Crystal will be receiving aggressive chemotherapy treatments starting immediately, pending Brain MRI, Chest MRI, PET Scan, CT scan, stress echo test and port placement surgery. This will all be happening in the upcoming week. Crystals team of DR's have scheduled her for intensive chemotherapy treatment for the next 5 to 6 months. This chemotherapy will be followed by surgery, radiation, and possibly another round of chemotherapy .
As you can imagine even with insurance, the cost for these tests and treatments will quickly add up. We will be using these funds for her medical expenses, therapeutic and non conventional treatments recommended by her team of Dr's, as well as trying to make Crystal as comfortable as possible while also making sure she has a family member by her side AT ALL TIMES to LOVE and SUPPORT her!
Crystals ability to make people laugh and smile has not changed through out this diagnosis. Her positive attitude and sense of humor have been so much comfort to all of us that love her. She is as strong as she is funny (which is a lot)! It is not in Crystal's nature to ask for our help, but we want her to know that she has it! We are committed to getting Crystal the very best treatment and care as possible.
