Hi, my name is Desiree McLaughlin and I am a neighbor and friend of the Atherton family. On May 3rd Jason Atherton (Father/Husband/Pilot/Community Volunteer) was admitted to the hospital suffering from an unknown viral infection that caused his body to go septic within 24 hours. After 155 days in the Hospital, 80 days on a ventilator, stroke, lung failure, an emergency craniotomy, and mitral valve replacement, Jason was finally diagnosed with Haemophilus parainfluenza endocarditis.

Jason's homecoming is a miracle and the Athertons need our help as they cope with Jason's recovery and begin the long road to establishing independence while adjusting to their new life.

The Atherton family has been an incredible community partner offering their time and contributing monetary donations over the years to the Crystal Beach Youth Center, and Community Center and volunteering when needed to repair, clean, or rebuild community areas throughout Crystal Beach.

Anything you can provide to help this family would be appreciated. Our goal is to raise $25,000 which would go towards installing a handicapped elevator lift in their residence. The family is also open to other non-monetary donations such as OT/PT/Home Wellness and Mental Wellness services for those qualified to volunteer their time.
