My Brother's Fight
A Remarkable Father, Husband, and Fighter
Last week, our world was turned upside down when my big brother (Francis Caprotti), suffered simultaneous life-threatening strokes. It’s a surreal experience, seeing my brother full of life and strength face such a scary life changing challenge. But even in this darkest hour, his true character shines through as he fights for his life in the ICU.
As a father, my brother has always been everything his children need. He’s their protector, their teacher, their constant source of love and support. And as a husband, he’s been a partner in every sense of the word—loving, patient, and always putting his family first.
The road ahead for him will be long and difficult. Recovery will take a long time, and it won’t be easy. There will be days of frustration and learning to adjust to a new reality. But if there’s one thing my brother (my buddy) has taught me over the years, it’s to keep getting up every time I get knocked down. I know he’ll face this one with the same strength and determination that have always defined him.
It’s never easy to ask for help, but the reality of what my family is going through is becoming all too clear. In addition to the emotional toll of his recovery, the financial burden of medical bills and the responsibilities of caring for his family weigh heavily on him. The stress on my sister-in-law of trying to balance it all— the unknown outcome of tomorrow, being at the hospital for my brother, being at home for the kids and working —can feel overwhelming. No one should have to face this road alone.
Yet, even through this agonizing storm, he remains to surprise us everyday. As we all rally around him, we know the road ahead will be long, but with the love of his family and the support of those who care about him, I know my brother, his wife and their children will come out stronger on the other side.
