Crusoe’s Vet Bills - Getting a Diagnosis

Hi, my name is Taylor, I’m a young artist living in Scotland, and I have created this fundraiser to help in anyway with my beautiful Crusoe’s current vet bills.

Crusoe is a 7 year old border collie, my best friend and my whole world. At the start of this year he started to fall ill, he lost his energy, his happiness and he seemed to be uncomfortable and in pain. Over the last few months he’s been on constant pain medication, in and out of the vets for tests and sedations to help find out what is wrong. He has been through multiple courses of antibiotics, none of which have made any difference. Though he is insured, these last few months have used up this insurance money.

After this time, the vets have told us it is highly likely he has Cushings Disease. Cushings Disease in dogs affects their Cortisol levels, it tends to make them very hungry and thirsty, generally uncomfortable and urinate more often. Eventually, without being medicated, it can lead to hair loss and skin problems, bruising and poor healing, dehydration and even depression. It can cause a very unhappy life for them, which is why I’m glad to hear with medication it can lessen the symptoms and keep them around longer and happier.

However, the testing process for Cushings disease can be long and tedious, as well as very expensive. It involves visiting a specialist vet. Without a diagnosis, Crusoe won’t be able to get that medication that will make his life much happier and take him back to the sweet boy full of energy he’s always been.

I have taken on more art commissions to help keep up with what I know will be an expensive, but absolutely crucial process. However, even with my commissions I will struggle.

That’s why I’ve taken the hard decision to ask for help, whatever help you are able to give. I do not expect to reach my goal, but I know that any amount will help greatly in helping Crusoe. Do not feel pressured, please do not donate if you feel you cannot afford it, I understand.
