Kelly went to the ER June 20th with severe back pain. She thought it was a kidney stone or infection. It was both. The infection was so severe that it raised her blood sugar to 1074 (normal is 80-120). Her kidney was so full of pus she had to have a stent put in her kidney. In the meantime the infection spread to other parts of her body and she developed a blood infection called sepsis. Sepsis will kill you. She stayed in the ICU for awhile. When she came out of ICU she had no feeling in her legs and couldn't move her legs at all. Doctors arent sure if its the trauma from the high sugar or the sepsis which caused severe nerve damage. While she has gotten some feeling back she has trouble walking because she cant feel when her feet are touching the ground. Driving is tricky to when you cant feel the gas pedal. She went back in the hospital a 2nd time last week and was diagnosed with kidney failure and nerve damage. Doctors are hopeful that her kidneys will heal and regain some function back but only time will tell.
Kelly does not have insurance for herself- the costs of the bills are high and she is unable to pay for some prescriptions and doctor visits even. She is unable to work at this time, so even the cost of living is hard
