Crusade for Chris Pearson
Chris Pearson has been married to our only child Erica, for 14 yrs. They have enjoyed a terrific, happy, and fulfilled marriage that has produced one son, Reid along with Jordan, Chris’s son from a previous marriage. Unfortunately, a dark cloud crept into their lives two years ago. Chris was then diagnosed with kidney cancer and subsequently had the lower lobe of his right kidney removed, with the surgeon stating there were clear margins.
On Sept. 19, 2023, Chris’s cancer analysis escalated to a diagnosis of Stage IV, metastatic kidney cancer also to his lung and abdomen. Since this finding, Chris has been under the care of a renowned kidney cancer specialist and is undergoing treatment at The James at OSU - Wexner Medical Center. This unexpected situation has placed an enormous emotional and financial burden on the Pearson family. Chris continued to work and even as many of his coworkers graciously donated a portion of their individual leave time for him, all his personal leave and medical time banks ran out, and he was terminated from employment. Consequently, he has lost both his income and medical insurance coverage. At the time of employment termination, Chris was 3 classes from graduating with his MBA, carrying an A cumulative average.
Erica has been spending much time from her work to tend to Chris’s medical and personal needs and care, depleting her own personal leave time. This has also resulted in the reduction of her own income. She is doing everything humanly possible to keep their home and family together and continue to work. Their son, Reid, age 12, knows about his dad’s cancer at the appropriate level for his age. He is being very patient and continues to gain strength through support and prayers from his school and friends.
Chris has been hospitalized since Dec. 26, 2023, and on January 6, 2024 he was transferred to Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital at OSU – Wexner Medical Center. Chris’s journey has been marked by moments of hope and painful setbacks. Most recently, he has further been diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy, probable Parkinson’s disease and a slipped disc due to a fall at home. At this time, it is unclear if Chris will have to be moved to a nursing facility upon release from Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital.
As they struggle with their mortgage, utilities, gas money, car payment, food costs and other daily living expenses, they are very humbled by the overwhelming, care, thoughts, and prayers offered by so many.
The Pearson family will continue to incur significant medical bills as the result of a loss of and reduced income during this time.
We hope to help offset their medical and daily living expenses with this fundraiser.
Please donate whatever you are comfortable with as all donations will help. This family will be very much appreciative of your thoughtfulness and generosity at this time.
All funds will be utilized for the multitude of expenses they continue to incur as they fight to get Chris well.
Please share this GoFundMe with others in your community, and with those who may know Chris, Erica and their sons, Jordan and Reid, or feel compelled to help.
As always and most importantly, we ask for continued prayers for Chris, Erica, Jordan and Reid.
Thank you,
Allan & Neda Shaub
We will continue to post updates on Chris’s health as we get them.
