Crusade for Carmine
This past July 15th, 2021 Carmine Guglielmi went out for a quiet, relaxing and leisurely motorcycle ride in his childhood hometown of Milford, CT when within seconds his world as he knew it was shockingly rocked forever. A motor vehicle driver, whom was inadequately insured coming from the opposite direction, struck Carmine with such force that he was thrown ten feet from his bike. On that Thursday early evening, he was hit so hard and hurt so badly that he laid in the ICU at Yale New Haven Hospital with severe hip, pelvis and sacrum injuries, facial lacerations, countless scrapes, bruises and numerous road rashes throughout his body. Sadly, after two surgeries, Carmine’s team of doctors had to share the most devastating news of all… they couldn’t save part of his left leg and foot; therefore amputation of his limb was his only chance of ever walking again and an additional surgery had to followed. The emotional turmoil and this shattering news was quite difficult to digest, but Carmine’s will to live life to his fullest potential was more important than being angry, sad or resentful. His life thus far had been filled with playing basketball, softball and volleyball countless evenings during the week; waterskiing, riding ATV’s and being a kid at heart was just part of his daily activities. Those who know Carmine can personally attest that he is the most safety conscience individual who enjoys polishing his motorcycles to perfection and relishes in the sheer delight of admiring, collecting, tinkering and just looking at them in his garage. An avid collector of cars from the past, a self-taught guitarist who likes to sing to his own tune, a horticulturists who grew and planted his entire landscaped yard and an incredible wood carver of signs and keepsake knick-knacks is a glimpse into his daily life. He is the happiest of men, incredibly easy going, friendly to all strangers, patient, kind, caring and the kind of guy who is always willing to lend a hand to help others. He worked in the HVAC industry his entire life, a much sought after gifted technician in his field, climbing roof tops of corporate buildings every day without wavier. Today, Carmine is confined to a wheelchair but thankfully able to convalesce and heal comfortably in his own home with the help of many family and friends. The outpouring of love, support and help has been incredibly overwhelming. He has a very long, difficult and challenging road ahead, but has the spirit and determination to do the necessary hard work needed to walk again. Your kind donation will help tremendously… offset mounting medical cost and everyday living expenses as he will not be able to work and support himself for a very long time. Your generosity is truly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts and we are so grateful for your kindness and love. Thank you.
