On 23 October 2014, Raymond and his fiance Jennifer were sleeping at their apartment in Mountain Home, Idaho. During the early hours of the morning, the apartment on the first floor, directly below their apartment had caught fire. Raymond and his fiance arose to the smell of smoke, and tried to exit the house immediately to get to safety. During their attempt to exit the house, Raymond had opened up the front door of the apartment, only to be greeted by an engulfing flame that gave him second degree burns to most of his torso and face. They made a second attempt to get out of their second story apartment and get to safety. Raymond then broke one of their windows out in the apartment to find an exit. From the second story, they both jumped down and hit the ground outside. Jennifer sustained a broken ankle and other injuries, fortunately Raymond made it out safely.

Shortly after escaping from their apartment, Raymond and Jennifer were rushed to the Mountain Home Hospital to be treated for their injuries. The Mountain Home hospital medical team sedated Raymond due to the severe burns he had from the front door fire. The Boise Life Flight helicopter was dispatched and flew to Mountain Home to pick up Raymond for further medical treatment at a larger hospital in Boise. After arriving at the Boise hospital, he was then transfered once again to the Burn Center, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Raymond and his fiance Jennifer are currently recovering from this tragedy. Raymond will reside at the Burn Center in Salt Lake City until he is healthy and safe to return home, back in Mountain Home. Sadly, a good portion of their personal and household belongings were lost during the apartment fire. Let's come together as one big military family to support Raymond, and his fiance Jennifer. They have a long road to recovery and they will need all the help and support they can gather. Please find it in your hearts, and donate anything you can to help this young couple get back on their feet, while they try and put this terrible tragedy behind them. Thank you for taking the time to read this story about a fellow Wingman and brother-in-arms.
