First and foremost, I want to give a huge THANK YOU to all of you who have been so supportive of my business & myself over the past six years. I look back on photos of my earliest creations and cringe, but am so grateful for how far I've come. I couldn't have done it without all of you pushing me to learn more and explore my creativity.
As a mother of four, my dream for my business was always to build a future for my family. This entire journey has been a grand blessing; started from a small pack of fondant, a sketchy homemade cake, and a social media post that went semi viral.
Every time any of you placed an order you didn't add to some large corporation's ceo's bank account , you contributed support to a small business, to me, and to my children. Thank you.
I am so excited to announce that after many years of hard work, Crumby Art will finally be a Bakehouse & Cakery. I have partnered up with my good friend Andrea who is the most AMAZING baker I have had the privilege of working with. She is a confectionary wizard! We have secured a location in Elm Grove and are hoping to open the first week of May!
Andrea is also a mommy to three, and shares many of the same ideals and expectations as I do in this business. She takes great pride in all of her tasty creations, only using ingredients of the highest quality.
We are investing into this Bakehouse completely on our own. We have no major financial backing as we are hoping to open debt free. We have created this Go Fund Me to reach out to anyone who would be willing to contribute to this great step into our futures. Any money donated will go towards our bakery renovations, a planetary mixer, and start up inventory.
Any donation, no matter the size is greatly appreciated! All donors will be invited to our pre-opening celebration. Anyone who contributes a donation of $100 or more will be commemorated on a cupcake tile on a wall in the bakery :) and also receive a special "donors coupon card" for 10% off all orders over $20 until 2017!
If there are any questions you may have for Andrea or myself, please do not hesitate to ask!
Read on to learn more about how Crumby Art was started and what the Crumby Art Bakehouse & Cakery will offer.
Crumby Art is a thriving online shop that produces and ships one of a kind edible creations nationwide. We have also been serving local customers for numerous occasions for the past six years.
Crumby Art was started by myself, Natalia Roman, in 2008 out of my home. I utilized my art background in the artistry of cake and baked goods locally. I then began my online sugar shop, creating custom edible cake & cupcake toppers for customers throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and the U.K. After the word of mouth spread, a side hobby quickly became my full time job.
Due to the increase, I began looking for a licensed incubator kitchen I was able to sub-lease when needed.
I have been fortunate to be named "Milwaukee Cake Boss" by the NY Latin Post, and have been featured in the nationally syndicated "Parents" magazine, as well as the local news stations as a young entrepreneur and mother.
However, due to my limited space, and not having a licensed kitchen of my own, I have been limited as to how much work I am able to accept; often turning away customers.
In 2015 I asked my good friend Andrea Haddara to join Crumby Art as my lead baker. This opened more opportunity for time, which allows me to accept additional commissions. Having Andrea on the team has also expanded Crumby Art's brand from being simply focused on Cakery to servicing a full selection of baked goods. We began an additional online shop last year, selling our delicious homemade delights such as assorted cookies, sweet breads, scones, and more.
Crumby Art Bakehouse & Cakery will offer coffee blends by a local, small business Roaster. This provides great support and camaraderie amongst the ever popular 'buy local' & 'buy Milwaukee' campaign. We will also serve up a small menu of lattes and espresso beverages that pair perfectly with our bakery.
Our shop will provide freshly prepared bakery and pastry products at all times during business hours. Tuesday-Saturday 7am-5pm. There will be a moderate selection of cupcakes, scones, mini bread loaves, donuts, cookies, and pops available every day. We will also highlight a special 'Sweet of the Week' every week & offer themed sweets in collaboration with non-profit organizations in which a portion of all proceeds will be donated (eg. Autism Awareness Month, Breast Cancer Awareness, etc).
Crumby Art is also very proud to provide gluten free bakery and pastry daily, as well as energy bites, granola, and other health motivated sweets for the health conscious customer.
For two hours in the early afternoon (11:30-1:30pm), Crumby Art will offer a light lunch menu to service any customers seeking to balance out their sweet tooth. We will provide a selection of sandwich meals. This will also provide a convenient service to the surrounding businesses in Elm Grove's Village Court .
Crumby Art will continue to progress in our celebrated specialty of cake design. We will cater to all occasions from baby showers to corporate anniversaries, and of course the prominent market of weddings. We are excited to be located next to a lovely Wedding Dress consignment boutique, as well as a celebrated hair studio.
Crumby Art is conveniently located just minutes from the Milwaukee Zoo. We are in the beautiful Elm Grove Village Court plaza. Warm up in the chilly months in our cozy shop with a latte and fresh baked goods; or visit us on the sunnier days and enjoy our outdoor seating near the gazebo.
Crumby Art aims to offer high quality baked goods and friendly valued service, in a welcoming & comfortable atmosphere. Our products will be competitively priced to meet the demand of the middle to higher-income local market area residents and outside customers who seek us out.
Thank you ever so much for your prayers, support, consideration, and contribution.
