Hi! I've been keeping everyone updated on Luca's health, but here's the full story just in case anyone missed it:

In March (2025), Luca had dental surgery, and he was completely fine and recovered afterwards, minus some ear irritation that I asked the vet to look into, but he found nothing. In May, we went back because I saw a corneal abrasion in one eye with some mild watering in that eye, and the vet prescribed some drops. The vet did a general examination as well and saw nothing out of the ordinary. We went back 2 days later because he had a lot of discharge out of one nostril as well as the same eye, but the vet said everything was okay, and so we went home. Three days later, when I offered him a treat that he excitedly ate, his mouth filled with blood, and so I rushed him to an emergency vet, where they discovered an oronasal fistula that had a severe infection and was somehow missed in the previous two visits at the other vet. He was hospitalized for 5 days and came home, and was better. I wanted to do a fistula repair, but that vet didn't offer it, and so I decided to let him heal while I searched for a doctor who could do it and figured out the funds for it. In the meantime, he first went almost back to normal and then deteriorated again, leading to several vet visits, an abscess drainage, and now a corneal ulcer/eye infection that's probably the result of an ascending infection. He cannot have the fistula repair until this infection is under control. The good news is, he is responding to the antibiotics, but it's just taking time for the mouth to heal. He also has a perfectly normal appetite, is back to his original weight (alhamdulillah), and is not in distress/pain most of the time (minus some oral discomfort occasionally). However, I have had to go to the vet 6 times in the last 10 days, and the bills are racking up. I've loaned some money from a lovely local gentleman, and I already owe him $150 for 3 visits he covered. Some of you may know I fell victim to a bank scam on May 29th (the day I was supposed to pick Luca up from the vet), and the scammer sucked all the money out of my account (I can prove this! I've put in a fraud complaint with my bank, but it's unlikely they'll help because it's a debit card), so I'm in worse condition than this would normally put me in. Anything would help. I plan to use the money to repay the man, future visits, the mousse-y wet food he needs, and most importantly: the fistula repair surgery. If anyone wants to see any bills, I can get those too! He's fighting hard to stay, and I want to give our sassy boy every chance in the world to remain with us.
