CRPS - No longer a living death

The words that will soon flow from these CRPS riddled hands will stand as the beginning of a whole new life for me…As many of you know, back in February I opened up myself and let everyone see a glimpse of what a day in the life of Dan was like.  The responses I received just helped to deepen my faith in the collective “GOOD” that I am lucky enough to surround myself with.  As I stated my main goal was to educate all so this horrific disease could have light shed upon it…hopefully enough light to help illuminate an answer to the pain that runs through my body each and every day.

I always believed that the greatest gift you can bestow upon someone is the understanding that we are all connected by an invisible thread.  A thread that binds us and delivers miracles.  I have seen that in my life on numerous occasions, most recently this past week.  My CRPS has taken control of all 4 limbs as well as my internal organs.  Of course, Pain Management wants to pump me full of Morphine or Ketamine, a solution that I will not allow to define me.  I had almost resolved myself to a life that many with CRPS term “Living Death”.

NO LONGER!!!!!!  That thread that binds us delivered an amazing gift.   A person I have been lucky enough to know for almost 12 years happened to have a conversation with a women whom has battled this very disease, but unlike me, she has found a way to put her disease in Dormant Remission.  It was this very moment that is going to SAVE MY LIFE!!!
The answer is Dr. Donald Rhodes.  He has created a machine that will give me my life back.  I have read all the success stories and I am confident that I too will come out of this with my life once again dictated by me vs dictated by unfathomable pain.  I will place a few links at the bottom of this email that you can read if you like, or even pass on to others that might have this disease.  My goal in life is to now make certain that every single person that suffers from the Dubbed “Suicide Disease” has the moment I had today – A FUTURE THAT CAN BE PAIN FREE!!!!!!!!  I am going to spread this to the world anyway possible.

His device, VECTTOR Therapy system, is the miracle that I have been searching for.  It was just given full FDA approval, however just as I had to battle 10 years ago, the insurance companies just want to force Opioids, mind altering drugs, all the while ignoring the care that is truly needed.  It took me over 2 years to get the insurance company to approve my spinal cord stimulator.

Currently the insurance companies would rather have me live with this pain and mask the pain with Stimulators and drugs.  I do not have the time nor the energy to take them on once again, so I am left with only one answer, to rely on my belief that the “GOOD” I have surrounded myself with over the past decades will now come full circle.

NOW THE EXTREMELY HARD STATEMENT – I NEED YOUR HELP.  Although I work extremely hard, I simply cannot afford this life changing device without help, so with the help of my wife, mother and close Friends (FAMILY), we have started a GoFundMe fundraising campaign.  The cost of the travel, week long therapy and the device will cost me close to $10,000. I am hoping that the kindness, love and compassion I feel each and every day can translate into helping me live a life virtually pain free – a statement I thought I would never be able to utter.

I am currently scheduled to begin treatment May 27th.

I wish I did not have to ask for this help, but I am out of options, and this is going to not only change my life, but also my families.  My kids will no longer have to see their dad suffer, with little explanation as to why it's happening, and even worse, no quick remedy.  This disease is so unpredictable that each day is a mystery, I can wake feeling great and without warning, a flare up cripples my afternoon plans.

I know this is a very big ASK, however I know that if roles were reversed, I would not think twice about helping someone in need.  I think I have proven that each and every day.  There is no amount that is too little.  I have shared this story with hundreds of people, and I know that the love, support and compassion I feel will help to give me my life back.

If you choose not to donate, please know that I will never hold that against you, as I don’t know what struggles you might be going through.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, my wife or my mom.  We will be glad to help answer any questions you might have.
