So many of you know what an amazing dog Crowley is, and have experienced first-hand how he touches all of our lives and spreads so much love. It is with great sadness that I reach out to all of you to request some help for him.

A few months ago, after a great session of fetch, he suddenly could not walk on his left rear leg. I ended up carrying him home from the park (thankfully down the street from our house) and scheduling an appointment with his vet ASAP when I realized that it wasn't something he was going to "walk off." Fast forward, after x-raying his legs I was advised that his cranial cruciate ligament (a dog's equivalent to a human ACL) seems to have ruptured. They advised me that at his age (5 years old) and energy level (very high) that surgery was without a doubt the advisable choice. They also told me they wanted to review his records further and would get back to me with a second opinion, but mentioned that the right leg also did not look normal. This is common associated with this injury, as a result of compensating for the injured side the opposite leg often degenerates or falters quickly. Upon further review this opinion was confirmed.

At an 8k estimate- as much as I want to do everything in my power to be the best dog mom I can to Crowley, the estimate came in the same week as the world as we know it shut down due to Covid-19. I lost my income and surgery seemed like a far-fetched solution at best. Since then I've reached out to vets that I work with up at the marine mammal rescue facility where I volunteer. They happily reviewed his records and X-rays for me and concurred on his diagnosis and advice I received from his doctor. I was, however, put in touch with a vet located in Palmdale who, thankfully, gave me a lower estimate for doing surgery on both legs.

We are now faced with figuring out whether we can swing it for him. I believe that the universe provides even in the most trying of situations, and decided it was time to reach out for some help in making this happen to provide the best life possible for him moving forward.

I want to see the day where Crowley runs on the beach again, carefree and pain free. I can't imagine a life for him where that isn't a possibility.
Whatever you can do to support him we are immensely grateful for. He has brought us all so much joy and it's time we pay it back to him, however we can.
Thank you all so much for your support.
