On Saturday May 7th, 2016, my mother (Julie) and I (Kennedy Crowder), were on our way back from Wichita, Kansas. I had just finished my freshmen year of college and we were driving back from my conference track meet. After a long day of driving, we got phone call from a neighbor as we were in Talupa, Mississippi saying that our house was on fire. After making a few more phone calls, it was very much true that our house was up in flames. After a couple of hours, the fire department was able to get the fire under control. It had only done some damage to one side of my parents’ bedroom, and nothing was seriously damaged. That was until the house caught fire a second time. There was still some smoldering that somehow burst into flames again at around 2 am. This was when things started to get out of control. The fire department eventually had to go into the entire house and rip out the ceiling to prevent it from spreading completely. We were able to save a lot of sentimental items, but because of smoke and water damage, we did lose a lot.  This was all cause by a single cigarette. We are very thankful that no one got hurt and for the fire departments effort on saving our house as much as they could. We are grateful for anything donated, whether it be a small donation, consoling words, and even prayers. THIS GOAL IS NOT A SET GOAL, ANYTHING GIVEN WILL HELP IN THE LONG RUN!
