Crosswalk Film Project

Donation protected

In March of 2021 I was feeling hopeless and frustrated with the rising tide of anti-Asian violence that was filling up my feed daily. I came across news story of a 75 year old Chinese woman who was a victim of violence in my hometown of San Francisco who fought off her attacker with a plank of wood. I felt that someone ought to make some art about her. That person turned out to be me, as I couldn’t stop thinking about her. A poem has blossomed into a short film with original music and a dancer (Marina Celander) by my side and we need your help to finish the piece. I have gotten this far without any financial backing but the time has come where I need to respect my fellow artists’ time, skills and artistry with the funds that they and I need to complete the project.

Your donation would go directly to funding a day of shooting (my amazing DP, actors, a production manager - currently me!, craft services, transportation and child care) and costs associated with the post production (an editor, sound mastering and post production graphics). So many talented artists have contributed their work to what we have thus far, please consider donating so we can finish this beautiful and inspiring work that honors where Asian Americans are in this moment.

Something good must come from something so painful.
