Cross Creek Alpaca Help
Hello Friend of the Alpaca!
Here's a little bit about us, and why we think helping us out with any donation at all will be worthwhile!
Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue was founded in Tenino, WA by Sharon Bond and Jacklyn Glover, who have been rescuing horses and alpacas collectively, for the past 6 years. You might ask yourself why an alpaca rescue needs to exist at all! Surely these fibrous friends are much beloved?
Well, yes and no. Breeding alpacas has grown in popularity in the US and Canada; like any industry that sees animals as a means to an end, this has led to the discarding of non-breeding alpacas due to age, deformity, illness and poor breeding practices. This makes us terribly sad, mad, and makes us NEED to do something about it!
Too often gelded males, older females and otherwise unwanted alpacas are passed from farm to farm, or they are put down for little or no reason other than they are a burden to the current owner. There also MANY cases of abuse, neglect and we think it's time to stop that.
We know that there are better ways to treat animals, and it is our duty to protect them.
Cross Creek Alpaca Rescue's major goal is to provide education about alpacas and other animals as well as offer adoption services.
The organization aims to accomplish this by:
*Educating the community around us on respect and care for alpacas and other animals.
*Developing relationships with local 4H organizations.
*Working with local colleges on education and awareness.
*Developing an adoption and fostering program.
Recently, we've been hit with a really tough season: terribly hot temperatures in southwest Washington State, mounting vet bills, and most recently, a very awful case of alpaca abuse in Cowlitz County, which are all straining our finances.
So we reach out to you, to help, and we appreciate anything you can give.
All funds will be directed to alpaca-related maintenance, like food, shelter, fencing materials; as well as vet bills for rescued alpacas.

Thank you, and the alpacas say thanks too!
