Cross Family Stability
Donation protected
We are taking a chance and attempting to crowd source funds exclusively meant for first, last, and security so that our family can move.
Last year, we lost our infant child in our home and have been hoping to start fresh. We have been saving to that end. Recently, however, I left my job in municipal accounting to join a Non Profit in my area that secures housing for the workforce on Cape Cod. When my husband returned to work after our son's death, he changed careers and makes less while learning his new trade. We suddenly find ourselves without the savings we meant to have while also being the recipients of an almost too-good-to-be-true offer: a home for the three of us, just under market value, in a perfect location. It's available December 1st, but we would need to rent our current location through December 31st to satisfy our arrangement. We have about a third of the down payment.
We are too afraid of the housing situation here to let it go on the chance something as affordable would be available a month later. We are asking our community to help if possible. We know we aren't the only people in need; we know there are people in greater need. We do as much as we can to help those we can, including with our votes, our wallets when possible, and our career choices. So we are only asking those who can comfortably give and those who feel this is a worthy endeavor and cause. We are hard working people. We are full of love.
Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. We are open books.
I am a 2010 graduate of Mount Holyoke College, a former astrophysics research scientist at Yale, accountant, math tutor, and mother of two boys: one here on Earth and one among the stars. My husband is an IT guru turned carpenter, working for a descendant of Yoko Kawashima. He is learning to build homes with his hands. Our living son is generous and funny, a true survivor, who carries his baby brother's memory everywhere with him, telling everyone from the grocery store clerk to police officers about his tiny baby who lived for 31 days.
We live in Eastham, MA and pay $1650/month now. The new home is in Chatham, MA and will cost $2,100/month. Our NPO and other programs provide vouchers for families of my size at a value of $2,600/month. We are not eligible for this subsidy due to our dual income, but I offer the information because that is market value in my area at this time. Our offer is incredibly lucky.
Thank you so much for your consideration.
