Cross Family Left With Nothing After House Fire

It should have been a regular day for Aaron and Maria Cross and their young daughter. In the morning they went to work, and school, and fully expected to come home to dinner with their family. Instead, they came home to a burning house and a small army of firefighters working furiously to put out an intense blaze that just wouldn’t stop growing. Despite valiant efforts, the home was completely destroyed taking everything the Crosses owned with it. Thankfully, nobody was injured but two beloved family dogs did not survive. Now the Crosses are dealing with the reality of having absolutely nothing, except the clothes on their backs. Few of us can imagine what that is really like. Just buying the basics will be a huge expense, not to mention finding a place to live and the larger cost of rebuilding. Insurance will cover some, but not all of the cost. The Crosses will have to bear a huge financial burden as they put their lives back together. P.S. My name is Regina Cleveland, and I am a close neighbor of the Crosses. We live near Lyons, Colorado in a small neighborhood in the mountains. The Crosses have lived here for over 10 years and have always been exceptionally friendly, kind, and helpful. When we had a major flood disaster in 2013, the Cross family was one the first ones to help. From digging and sand-bagging to making sure things like my family photo albums were safe from the rising water—and letting me sleep at their house (with my bird and wet dog)—they have shown that they are the kind of people who never hesitate to put others first.
