ChestFest
On the 26th June our worst nightmare became a reality. Chester, our 6 week old baby boy stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated. He was placed into an induced coma and we were transferred down to the Paedeatric Critical Care Unit at Sheffield children's hospital by the wonderful Embrace team, an ambulance service consisting of doctors and nurses who are trained to transport poorly children who are on life support.
Chester spent a month down in Sheffield and a total of 10 days ventilated in a coma. He developed pneumonia, a pneumarhorax and many other complications whilst there but he pulled through and although he is still under consultant care at Sheffield due to ongoing issues he is now a wonderful, happy 8 month old baby!
The care Chester received was amazing. We were in total awe of the doctors and nurses and wanted to give something back for everything they have did.
In July last year my lovely second Dad rode his bike cross country from Morecambe to Bridlington to raise money for the Children's Hospital Charity! We raised just over £3600 but now want to go one step further!
To celebrate Chester's first birthday in May we are planning a massive celebration! ChestFest!!! This will double up as a fundraiser for the hospital charity! We will be doing raffles, auctions and much more!
