Crohn’s Sucks And Then Came The Surgery
Crohn’s sucks. Years of dealing with pain, possible solutions, failures, repeat... over and over. And then things get real bad, real quick.
Darcy is our sister. We were all born and raised in Iowa and still make our homes here. Darcy is a mom, sister, wife and to many people in central Iowa, a life line to getting their lives and the lives of their kids back on track. She is a selfless giver and a breath of fresh air to the many families she helps. As a Parent Educator, many families, both parents and kids alike, count on her to be the support they need to keep their lives on track.
Darcy has been dealing with Crohn’s for nearly her entire adult life. Unfortunately, none of the regular medical approaches or drugs helped her condition. But she is a battler. Every birthday, holiday, Thanksgiving and Christmas, she is there with a smile and helping hand. But eating was always going to bring the condition back to the front. To hear Darcy talk about it now, none of us really had a clue what she was enduring. She simply never said no. If any of us needed her, she was there. In early November she said yes again. Her son definitely wanted to visit the autumn pumpkin farm, corn maze and hay rack ride. That’s the picture you see above. The next day, the pain and other symptoms that most of us don’t like to think about reared up with a vengeance and she went to the ER. That day she was admitted to the hospital. 4 days later she was in emergency surgery and had her entire colon removed. It has been a difficult time for her family but nothing like what Darcy has had to endure.
Darcy is now on the slow road to recovery. We knew she was coming out of the fog of pain when she began to mess with all of us in her hospital room in the ICU. The look of death she could generate if you failed to give her the moist swaps to suck on, immediately, was somewhere between hilarious and terrifying. Unfortunately, as her mental clarity came back, the realization of the financial consequences of all the medical care became readily apparent. No one should have to worry about paying the bills when your body is recovering from such a traumatic surgery. But that is reality. It’s life. And it’s why we are starting this Go Fund Me site for Darcy.
All of us have life issues. And all of us should pull together to help each other out. In this case, your thoughts and prayers are wonderful and any financial help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. A way to help cover the bills as they begin to pour in will give Darcy the peace of mind to focus on her own recovery and get back to being the wonderful woman that we all count on so much.
Thank you in advance for anything you can provide.
