13-year-old with Crohn’s Disease on Remicade Immunosuppressive Treatment in quarantine in Bridgewater, Vermont!
My name is Tamra Nestler, and I’m a single mother of two daughters, Brielle (21) and Kiara Rose (13). My youngest is both immunocompromised from Crohn’s Disease, and immunosuppressed due to her life-saving Remicade Chemotherapy Treatments. She essentially has no functioning immune system, putting her In the high risk category of contracting Coronavirus.. if Kiara is exposed to COVID-19 She doesn’t have an immune system to fight it off!
Due to this harsh new reality and under the direction of my daughter’s medical team, we are in strict quarantine in an effort to keep Kiara alive & healthy. I pulled her out of school 3 weeks ago, and my older daughter has come home after her college closed due to the situation. We live in rural Vermont, where the grocery stores are stripped bare and there are no delivery options available. With the help of a few generous friends, I have been ordering non-perishables via Amazon, but this is an expensive and, ultimately, unsustainable solution.
We are in desperate need donations, which will allow me to purchase critical items such as medicine, food and disinfectants to get through quarantine. I’ve completely depleted our savings trying to protect my chronically ill, immunosuppressed, immunocompromised daughter during this pandemic. We are all terrified, with no consolation of even knowing how long this will last.
