Crocheting My Way Through a Tough Spot

TL;DR
I haven't had work at my normal job since early November and have not been able to find any steady supplemental work. I have enough money in my account to pay for one more month's worth of expenses. So, I have come to humbly ask for help with a month's worth of expenses so that I can have more time to find a stable income. For everyone who donates £50 or more I’m going to make and send you a crochet piece.

For full transparency I’d like to start with a breakdown of my monthly budget so that you know how this money will be spent.

£600 - Rent
£175 - Credit Card
£ 40 - Groceries
£ 30 - Utilities
£ 17 - Internet
£ 10 - Cell Phone

Here is how we got here:

Moving to the U.K. has been the biggest decision I have ever made and I am so happy that I did. Since being here I have made life long friends that I know I can always count on, expanded my view of the world, and become aware of just how brave, resilient, and strong of a person I am. That being said, it hasn't been easy, and I also know that I would not have gotten this far without help. Because of my situation there are a lot of opportunities that are not available to me, and the largest of these hurdles is finding a job.

I have been working as a house painter/laborer for the past three years and I have really enjoyed it, however, the work is extremely dependent on the weather. The beginning of last year was particularly touchy. The weather was bad so we didn’t have any jobs, as a result I started to work part time as a dishwasher which helped me not dig into my savings too much. I also applied for summer college classes so that I could receive student aid and use the extra to refill my savings. Once spring came my labor job picked back up again but I had almost gone through my savings so I decided to take the student loan money so that I could have a cushion. However, to maintain my studies I had to quit the dish washing job.

This fall/winter has been extremely bad for work. I haven’t had any painting/labor work since early November. I have been able to do a handful of dish washing shifts however it has only been to cover when someone is out sick. I have been looking for other jobs, both in person and remote but haven’t had any luck finding one mostly because of my situation. I am currently at the end of my money. I have enough for the next month but that is all.

I am asking for your help because I am not sure if I will be able to find a job in time to cover my expenses for the coming month. I am going to continue to apply for remote jobs and local jobs. I also am working on transferring some of my crochet notes into full fledged patterns to possibly gain some passive income by selling them.

With that being said I want to offer something back. For anyone that donates £50 or more I’m going to make and send you something I crochet, we can chat but it will most likely be a hat, stuffed plant/animal, or a coaster set, but if there's something specific you’d like let me know and we can figure something out.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. It really does mean a lot to me. I know that we are all going through it right now and anything you can do to help is much appreciated. Even if it's just reaching out to say “hi”.

Love you all xoxo
