Dear friends,
This weekend we saved our home from violent wildfires in Pisak, Croatia. From what was supposed to be a weekend at the beach, we ended up in an apocalyptic situation, surrounded by dark smoke and flames as high as a three storey building.
We defended our home with everything we could find - buckets, casseroles, plastic bags filled with water and formed a human chain with people I have barely met, who spontaneously came and put their life at risk to help us.
We have been extremely lucky and I am so grateful to all those anonymous faces who spontanesouly helped us, extremely thankful to our Croatian firefighters, police and military forces. It is a true miracle nobody died and we did not suffer major damage.
Unfortunately, not all were as lucky as we are and have lost their homes, cars, olive trees and everything they had. Many of these people are too old to do it over again and will rely on limited state support.
Let's help those people rebuild their home and get their life back.
What I am asking from you? Not much, the value of a coffee at your local cafe will already be of great help. Please feel free to contribute as you'd like.
What I will do in return? We will donate our proceeds to locals in the neighbouring village of Marusici and help them rebuild as much and as fast as possible.
We currently all live on a chaotic planet, multiple wars going on at the same time and my cause cannot be compared to some of these tragedies. But I have to do something and the least I can do is to appeal to your generosity and give back to those who helped me.
Thank you,
Sanela
