Help Cicero live longer

Hi! We are Angela and Jaime and we were adopted by Cicero almost a year ago. Cicero had a rough life, living in the streets until he chose us. He showed up at our door one day and decided to live with us. We hadn’t had a pet before, but we immediately fell in love with him. He has brought joy and happiness to our lives.

Cicero was sick, riddled with bugs and parasites, but he wanted to live. We didn’t hesitate to help him and bring him into our life. We healed him and brought him with us to Chicago, where we live now. It’s amazing how fast Cicero adapted to indoor life. He has a lot of love inside of him and found two caretakers in need of love. He has done more for us than we could ever imagine.

 

The vets estimate that he is 6 years old. He is very outspoken and always convinces us to give him more treats, that’s why we named him Cicero. He loves to cuddle with us, give us a lot of kisses (we like to think that when he licks us, he’s kissing us), hunt his toys, watch cat-TV (out the window), and sleep. He is a very happy indoor cat and we didn’t expect to be this happy with him. To us, he is perfect.

 

Unfortunately, we recently got bad news. His stomach hurts and there is a chance that he has cancer. The vets need to do a biopsy of his stomach and intestines to make a proper diagnosis. We’ve been covering all his vet expenses so far (X-rays, ultrasounds, blood tests, etc.). The insurance doesn’t want to cover the biopsy cost (it’s been a long and difficult challenge) as they argue that it is associated with a previously diagnosed disease: Inflammatory Bowel Disease. As a single-income household with a lot of student debt, paying out of pocket for a $2200 biopsy+$300 x-rays is out of our reach.

 

By helping fund Cicero’s biopsy, you’ll help us reach a proper diagnosis for Cicero. Best case scenario, Cicero doesn’t have cancer and can be easily cured. Worst case scenario, he has cancer and we hope the insurance will cover the treatment since it is a new condition (as you can see our insurance hasn't been the best covering Cice's medical treatment).

Hola! Somos Ángela y Jaime y fuimos adoptados por Cicerón hace un año. Cicerón tuvo una vida difícil, viviendo en las calles, hasta que nos escogió. Un día apareció en nuestra puerta y decidió quedarse con nosotros. Nunca habíamos tenido una mascota, pero nos enamoramos inmediatamente de él. Cice nos ha traído mucha felicidad y alegría.

 

Cicerón estaba enfermo, lleno de garrapatas y parásitos. Pero él quería vivir. No dudamos en ayudarlo y lo acogimos. Lo curamos y lo trajimos con nosotros a Chicago, donde vivimos hoy en día. Es sorprendente lo fácil que Cice se adaptó a la vida en casa. Él tiene mucho amor para dar y encontró a dos tutores que necesitaban de su amor. Él ha hecho más por nosotros de lo que nos hubiéramos imaginado.

 

Los veterinarios estiman que tiene 6 años. Cice habla todo el tiempo y siempre nos convence de darle sus snacks, por eso su nombre: Cicerón. Él ama arruncharse con nosotros, dar muchos besos (nos gusta creer que cuando nos lame en realidad nos esta dando besitos), cazar sus juguetes, ver la tele de gatos (mirar por la ventana) y dormir. Él es un gato de casa muy feliz y nosotros no esperábamos estar tan felices con él. Para nosotros, Cice es perfecto.

 

Desafortunadamente, hace poco recibimos malas noticias. A Cice le duele el estomago y hay una posibilidad que tenga cancer. El veterinario necesita hacer una biopsia de su estomago e intestinos para hacer un diagnóstico. Hasta el momento hemos estado pagando por los gastos médicos de Cice (Rayos X, ecografías, exámenes de sangre, etc.). El seguro no quiere cubrir el costo de la biopsia ya que consideran que está asociado a una condición pre-existente: Enfermedad Inflamatoria Intestinal. Al ser un hogar de ingreso único con bastantes deudas estudiantiles, está fuera de nuestro alcance pagar los $2200 que cuesta la biopsia +$300 que cuestan sus rayos-x.

 

Al ayudar a Cice con su biopsia, nos ayudarás a definir su diagnóstico. En el mejor de los casos, Cice no tiene cancer y se puede curar. En el peor de los casos, esperamos que el seguro cubrá su tratamiento al tratarse de una enfermedad nueva (como saben nuestro seguro no ha sido el mejor cubriendo los gastos médicos de Cice).
