​For the past week, I've been feeding a heroic mother cat and her babies. My heart is shattered because the worst has already happened: one of her biological kittens was tragically killed by traffic days ago—a devastating consequence of their chosen 'home' being a busy main road.

​The mother is now desperately trying to protect her remaining kitten and an older, orphaned kitten that has attached itself to her for survival. As I write this, they are huddled right on the edge of the asphalt, constantly terrified by the roar of passing cars. With a severe storm hitting right now, their lives are in immediate peril from exposure and hypothermia as well.
