Fundraising for our Critical Care Unit in SWAH
Almost five months ago, myself and my family found ourselves in an extremely unfortunate circumstance, holding a four day vigil for my beautiful sister in the Critical Care Unit in the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen.
During the many hours spent there, it was clear to see how hard working, compassionate and professional the staff of the unit were. I for one, could not wake up every day and undertake the jobs that they do. I cannot commend the CCU staff enough for what they done for us when we were faced with the decision of turning off Dodie’s life support or the respect and dignity they showed my sister in her final days.
From the Consultants, to the Nurses and Care Assistants, to the Porters. These people are the real hero’s in this world and now they are putting their own lives and the lives of their loved ones at risk to look after the likes of me, you and our families during these scariest of times.
If you are like me and feel totally useless in this situation but still feel the need to do something or help in some way, make a small donation to our own Critical Care Unit in Enniskillen. For God knows how many of us will rely on it in the coming weeks.
In loving memory of Dodie Smith.
Thank you.
