If you've ever strolled through Aldea Zama, near Zamarket, you might have been greeted by a gentle nudge from Ramon. This sweet soul calls a casita at the Aldea Zama First Dog Shelter his home, where he lives with his best friends, Patron and Cheeto. A gentle and beloved fixture of our community, this 8-year-old dog has a spirit that touches everyone he meets.

But behind his gentle eyes, Ramon is fighting an exhausting and painful battle. He suffers from severe, recurrent skin infections that leave him raw, itchy, and in constant discomfort.

Our small group of donors has done everything possible to help him. We’ve tried medicated baths, flea treatments, and countless skin remedies—but sadly, these have only offered temporary relief. We’ve reached the limit of what we can do without a real diagnosis.

Now, the only way forward is through skin biopsies and laboratory testing. This isn’t just a next step; it’s his only path to lasting relief. Once we have answers, we can begin the right long-term treatment and finally give Ramon the comfort he deserves.

Si alguna vez has paseado por Aldea Zama (AZ) Tulum, cerca de Zamarket, quizás recibiste un cariñoso saludo de Ramón.

Esta dulce alma llama hogar a la casita que se muestra en la imagen (Primera casita de Refugio en AZ), donde vive con sus mejores amigos, Patrón y Cheeto. Un grupo de 3 perritos amados por nuestra comunidad. Ramon de 8 años tiene un espíritu que conmueve a todos los que conoce.

Pero detrás de sus gentiles ojos, Ramón ha tenido una batalla agotadora y dolorosa. Sufre de infecciones cutáneas graves y recurrentes que lo dejan en carne viva, con picazón y en constante incomodidad.

Nuestro pequeño grupo de donantes ha hecho todo lo posible para ayudarlo. Hemos intentado baños medicados, tratamientos contra pulgas e innumerables remedios para la piel (esteroides y antibioticos), pero lamentablemente, estos solo han ofrecido un alivio temporal. Hemos llegado al límite de lo que podemos hacer sin un diagnóstico real.

Ahora, la única forma de avanzar es mediante biopsias de piel y pruebas de laboratorio. Esto no es solo un siguiente paso; es su único camino hacia un alivio duradero. Una vez que tengamos respuestas, podremos comenzar el tratamiento correcto a largo plazo y finalmente darle a Ramón la comodidad que se merece.
