My name is Lina Vasquez, and I am currently seeking financial support to assist with medical expenses for my brother-in-law, Jorge DeLaTorre, in relation to his upcoming lung transplant.

Jorge was admitted to Sutter Hospital on March 28, 2025, with an initial diagnosis of pneumonia. On April 4th, his condition worsened, necessitating transfer to the ICU due to declining oxygen levels and unresponsiveness to treatment. After extensive testing, it was determined that he has an autoimmune disorder attacking his lungs, resulting in scar tissue that can only be addressed through a lung transplant.

Unfortunately, Sutter Hospital in Sacramento lacks the necessary specialized equipment and medical professionals to perform this procedure. Consequently, Jorge was transferred to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles via helicopter on April 11th.

The requirements for proceeding with the transplant include maintaining a strong support system and residing within 100 miles of the hospital. Additionally, he will need two caregivers to provide round-the-clock care for at least three months post-surgery, during which he will undergo rehabilitation to relearn basic functions such as walking and breathing.

Funds raised will be allocated towards housing, meals, transportation to and from medical appointments, and caregiver support. Any contribution will be immensely helpful in supporting Jorge’s wife, Isabel, and their son, Angel, during this challenging time.
