Hi my name is Gibran and I am asking for help for our 4 year old cat Thurman.
I cannot believe I am in this situation. This Monday will be exactly a year since we lost our beloved 11 year old Iggy. Losing a pet is absolutely devastating and I cannot bear to lose another.
Thurman is currently in critical 24 hour care at LAASER. He currently has kidney failure. He has been in LAASER’s care for almost two days and his kidney levels have slowly improved (each day he has gone down 1 point) which is the right direction but he needs more time so this number can drop and he can be well enough to come home.
They believe it could be an infection. Due to the nature of the situation and his dehydration he needs to be on hourly fluids and antibiotics. Getting a level of hydration is slow and they must do so steady over time. There is a possibility he might need to be there even for a week as reversing such issues takes time and proper care.
The vet recommends he stays another 48 hours. This amount is $3,400 to keep him in care for 2 more days, this includes all fluid, medications etc. while we continue to get the level to decrease.
We exhausted our savings and options getting him to this point. We have already spent $5,700. I’m in a desperate situation. I hate to ask for any help and I’m totally embarrassed but it’s life or death. We must make a decision to either continue this care or explore other options by 4pm today.
Please help me so I don’t have to say goodbye before we’ve given it everything possible because he is improving.
Thank you so much.
