Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Community -
Many of you know my dearest friend Crist has been through a LOT in the past four years. In 2021, he was diagnosed with heart failure and hospitalized for almost a week, and then last year, he was able to have his hip replaced. As Crist was recuperating from his hip replacement and doing all the good things to care for his heart, he faced yet another setback.
Back up to Father's Day this year, he was out with his daughter Matia and she looked at him and said, "Papa, your skin and eyes are jaundiced, you need to have that checked out!" A few days later, after an emergency CT scan and MRI, it was found that there was a mass in his liver. After several scary and very uncertain days of medical exploration, Crist was scheduled for expedited surgery on July 15th. It has been determined that Crist has Mirizzi syndrome, a rare condition that occurs when a gallstone blocks the common hepatic duct, causing bile flow obstruction. Crist's body created a bypass of the blockage directly to the colon for the expulsion of bile. Thankfully, the surgery was able to fix most of what was going on that was making our friend feel terrible and making him turn yellow.
Recuperation time keeps Crist from working, and there are lots of extra expenses that are not covered by insurance. Right now, any financial assistance would be very helpful and much appreciated by Crist and Rebecca.
