Cristina's Journey to Recovery

This is a fundraiser to help my sister-in-law Cristina on her journey to recover from metastatic pancreatic cancer. Even though this is one of the worst diagnosis one can get, we are hopeful that we can help her win this battle. Since this will be the biggest challenge of her life, Cristina needs our support to fight her way to recovery. The money will be used for an advanced immunotherapy treatment in the US, which has very good results but is not available in Canada. The costs are very high and they are not covered by any kind of insurance, therefore I am kindly asking all family, friends and friends of friends to please donate anything possible. Any amount will make a huge impact and will be greatly appreciated.

Cristina is only 53 years old and she was feeling fine until a month ago, when she travelled to Romania to visit her mom. After arriving there, she started having pain in the abdominal area, which grew stronger and stronger. Since the pain did not stop, she decided to go to the doctor and see what’s happening. After some preliminary checks, the doctor asked for an ultrasound, which was done very quickly. The results were worrying enough so the doctor went further and requested an MRI. The results of the MRI showed the pancreatic cancer spread to the liver. She then returned to Canada, where the diagnosis was confirmed at Mount Sinai Hospital, and she immediately became a patient of Princess Margaret Hospital.

Cristina started chemotherapy but that alone cannot help with all the tumors. We spoke to many specialists and oncology doctors and the treatment in the US is the most promising we have. Is it guaranteed? Of course not, but one can only hope!

All the money raised will be used for Cristina's treatment. On behalf of Cristina's family and mine, thank you, thank you, thank you!
