Cristina Lenard's Living with ALS Fundraiser
Donation protected
As you may well know by now, our beautiful Cristina Lenard was diagnosed with ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, in February 2018.
Since symptoms began in 2015, we have been very proud and very reluctant to ask for help when it has been needed. Good fortune always seemed to find us at the right time. Unfortunately, we now find ourselves drowning under the weight of the heavy, unwanted intruder in the room - ALS - and we are reaching out for help.
We have immediate need for a new conversion vehicle capable of transporting Cristina in her motorized wheelchair. In November of 2019, we were the humble recipients of a generous donation - a converted minivan! See below the beautiful donation and all the places it has taken us! This vehicle has served us very well over the past three years, however today our mechanic declines to work on it due to its rusted out frame.
We currently cannot afford a replacement vehicle. Looking at pricing, new conversion vans from MOBILITY WORKS start at $75,000 and used ones start at $25,000, manufactured by the industry trusted BRAUNABILITY . We would love to continue to have the freedom of mobility for the time we have ahead of us, to be able to travel and share experiences together out of the house.

Asking for help is hard. Asking for help is contrary to our humble nature. In a situation like this, we see no other way but to ask for help. We are asking for hope in a hopeless situation.
If you've read this far, I do not know how to close this. We can affirm you that ALS does not take a break, it is a slow and crushing process that has our family highly fatigued. Although we may be more tired than ever, we are held tightly together and bonded strong, building and sharing our love regardless of the pain.
Certainly asking for money will not give us a cure ... but it can provide us some peace of mind from financial worry of how to afford a conversion van, how to afford extra care in the home, how to afford more quality time together ... instead of worrying about how to squeeze a dollar out of a penny.

A deep, gratuitous thank you for your consideration.
