Why I’m Asking for Your Help

Dear Friends,

I'm Melonie Jackson and I never thought I’d be writing this. But today, I need to ask for something big—not for me, but for the 35 fragile furbaby souls who are depending on all of us.

Hugs For Harry has been a safe haven for seniors, cruelty survivors, and shelter dogs on the edge of euthanasia. Every wagging tail you’ve seen, every adoption success story, every healing journey—it has all been possible because we had a roof over our heads.

Now, because of a lease restriction, we’ve been told we cannot keep dogs overnight at our current Orinda location. Unless we move quickly, 35 dogs will lose their safe beds, potentially their lives, and their place to heal.

This is a 5-Alarm Emergency—and I’m turning to you, our community, because I know we can do this together.

The Crisis

35 frail rescue dogs will be displaced without urgent action.

We must move immediately to a new location.

We need $25,000 to cover the move, renovations, and boarding.

The good news? We know what we need, and with your help, we can get there.

Where Your Gift Will Go

Every dollar will go directly toward keeping these dogs safe:

$8,000 – Lease deposit for a new facility

$10,000 – Construction & renovations (safe kennels, outdoor access, build-out)

$5,000 – Utilities & permits to operate legally and safely

$1,000 – Emergency boarding during transition

$1,000 – Moving costs (transporting kennels, supplies, and dogs safely)
