Carlos Holstein will be remembered for his infectious laugh that could fill a room and his ever-present smile. Because of his passion for health and nutrition, Carlos earned his personal training degree and enjoyed working at the YMCA for ten years where he was able to live his dream of helping others on their path to fitness. He was devastated when his chronic illness forced him to leave his position. He departed this earth last Friday, September 3, 2021, and will be missed for a lifetime by his immediate and extended family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

 

Anyone who knew Carlos also knows his loving wife Jonesa. The high school sweethearts fell in love 42 years ago at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB). Being legally blind has created many obstacles for the couple and now Jonesa has to face them alone. They spent the last two years caring for each other while Jonesa battled Stage 4B Cancer and Carlos suffered through Mixed Connective-Tissue Disease, Fibromyalgia, Autoimmune Disease, and chronic widespread pain. Carlos and Jonesa were rarely able to work over the past two years. Jonesa spent the last 22 days of Carlos’s life in the hospital, by his side, tending to his needs, and holding his hand. Jonesa feels her best friend and her future have been taken from her. She is devastated.
