Crisis Counselor & Single Mom Facing Job Loss PLEASE HELP

Hi, my name is Amber. I’m a single mom, a full-time student, and until recently, I was a supervisor and crisis counselor with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. I’ve spent years supporting others through their darkest moments — and now I’m facing one of my own.

I’ve just been told that the crisis line I work on is being shut down due to federal budget cuts. My last day is July 17. After pouring my heart into this work for years, I’m suddenly losing my only stable source of income.

I’ve known this was a possibility, and I’ve been applying to jobs for months — but the final decision just came down, and now time is running out. I’ve been picking up a few Airbnb cleaning gigs to help cover groceries, but without my main job, it’s not enough. I’m terrified. As the sole provider for my family, the weight of this loss is overwhelming.

My daughter is a full-time college student. The other kids are working on their education and working but can afford only to cover their car payments, insurance and other bills. I am also in school, working hard to build a better future. But without my income, we’re are going to lose our home, our car — everything we’ve worked so hard to hold onto.

Unemployment benefits will barely cover a fraction of our monthly bills. I’ve done everything I can to stay afloat, but now I need help — and asking for it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. I’m beyond humiliated that it has come to this. Needing to ask for help was the last thing I ever expected I’d have to do. And if by some miracle I’m able to secure adequate employment before July 17 then I will most definitely refund anything sent. That unfortunately is not looking promising however.
