Cricket was supposed to come home today but the vet called me with the news that he has another obstruction and needs the same procedure done immediately. :(

My name is Samantha and I'm starting this fundraiser for my cat, Cricket, who is currently undergoing an emergency surgery on his 4th birthday. Cricket is the sweetest, funniest and friendliest boy ever and if you've ever met my fur family, he's definitely your favorite.

Yesterday, 8/29, I suspected he had a UTI due to rancid urination outside of the litter box as well as excessive grooming. I scheduled him a vet appointment for Sat 08/30 at 9:30am. Last night at 11:30 pm, I watched him go into the litter box and run out screaming, wailing and hissing in pain.

I rushed him to the emergency vet, concerned he may have a blockage (urinary obstructions a life threatening condition common in male cats, disabling them from urinating on their own. A urinary obstruction, if left untreated, is fatal after 48-72 hours). We stayed at the ER until 3am to receive the good news that he was not blocked and we were okay to keep his vet appointment in the morning for further diagnostics and treatment.

We arrived at his vet appointment this morning where he got xrays taken as well as blood work, a urinalysis, pain management and antibiotics. The xrays showed he did not have any stones, a good sign. He was able to go home.

Instead of returning Cricket to me, a vet tech informed me that the vet attempted to manually express his bladder and was unsuccessful. He now had a complete blockage which required emergency surgery or his bladder would rupture. They began the procedure immediately. He will remain hospitalized for the next 3-5 days and this procedure is estimated to be between $4,000 and $5,000.

I deposited $3,000 and was able to say goodbye to him before they put him under.

I'm not one to ask for help but I know how many people love Cricket I and wanted to open this up for any donations if anybody wants to help support him. Anything is astronomically appreciated, even just well wishes.
