Cricket's Hollow Critter House & Animal Sanctuary

The day I saw Cricket's photo, my life, and its purpose became clearer than it's ever been. I learned of a sweet, 14-year-old kitty cat whose elder owner, Ms. Connie, was transitioning into palliative care, and there was no one with whom Cricket could be placed in such an urgent situation, and the thought of this sweet senior kitty going to a shelter after a lifetime indoors with only her human crushed me...so I decided I wouldn't allow it to happen.

After bringing Cricket to her new home, I continued providing regular updates to the family so that they could pass along the knowledge that Cricket is safe, loved, and cared for deeply. It wasn't until later that I learned just how meaningful that knowledge was. During those last days of Ms. Connie's life, I learned that the only thing capable of bringing a smile to her face was hearing about how safe, loved, and cared for her baby Cricket was with her new dad (me ). So, I decided to make sure Ms. Connie could stay connected with Cricket for as long as time would allow and sent "postcards" and pics of Cricket through her family. I wanted more than anything to make sure Cricket was loved, and Ms. Connie could have peace of mind that her baby was in good, loving hands. And so the seed was sewn.

I have decided to use my time left on this Earth to create a safe, forever animal sanctuary that specializes in senior and special needs pets whose owners either pass unexpectedly, are transitioning into hospice or palliative care, or are simply no longer able to provide the required care they need. The magic part is that I want the sanctuary to serve as a place for senior citizens and assisted care residents can come to spend time with the critters hang out in beautiful places with senior pets and enjoy the happiness and benefits of companion pets at a time in life when loneliness is often an unwelcome and looming guest.

There will be volunteers who will also take some of the more social pets to assisted living facilities to visit those residents unable to leave, and there will be an entire program dedicated to providing updates, pics, and videos to the senior owners whose pets come to live at Cricket's Hollow Pet Retirement Sanctuary.

*NOTE: Any donation received via check will be listed as Anonymous. I didn't know another way to do it to make sure it's counted toward the goal.
